A couple of fundamentals. Absolutely brilliant.
First thing about Michelle.
She has a lovely clear voice.
It is a very varied voice
And one thing we will be looking at as we go through this is that:
It is actually all about your voice!
It is your voice that keeps people engaged.
If you are listening to me all day and I am going
‘word, word, word, word, word, word, word’
Firstly I am hypnotising you!
But secondly, more significantly I am forcing you the whole time into a very hard intellectual exercise,
which is:
‘What was the most important word in that sentence?’
Whereas if you are listening to me and I am going:
‘word, word, word, word, WORD, word , word..’
I am doing half the work for you
I am emphasising the things that matter.
And we are straight back to structure
If you know what the key messages are, you will find those words will get pushed
So if you are doing a presentation which is about ‘taking responsibility’ for things
Then you will find that the words ‘responsibility’, being ‘responsible’, acting more ‘responsibly’
those word will get a push
And then your students walk away thinking:
‘Uh – I’ve got the message’
If your students are walking away from your training thinking:
‘Yeah – very interesting – I need to think about that…’ –
you haven’t done your job!
Like a salesperson they need to walk away thinking
‘Aha, I understand there I need to go, who I need to see, what I need to do next.’
